Terry Parsons

Marital status: Widowed
Children: 2
Occupation: Retired - GE & IKON
Comment: AUGUST 2024 ADDENDUM: After the November, 2021 passing (Alzheimer's) of my wife off 55 years, have resumed volunteering with Fuller Center for Housing, One Small House, and Habitat for Humanity on local and international "builds" in which we had previously jointly participated. Picked up the game of Pickleball about a decade ago and play that three times a week along with volunteering in maintaining hiking trails in City of Carlsbad.

2009 STATUS:

Spouse:  Pat

Children:  2 Daughters

Grandchildren:  6

Activities/Hobbies:  Spendling time with grandchildren, traveling, volunteer work, golf, tennis, etc.

After graduating from Whitman College in 1963 with a degree in economics, joined General Electric Company on their Financial Management program in Syracuse N.Y. There I met my wife, Pat, and we have now been married 43 years. We have two daughters each of whom is married; one resides in Palo Alto, Ca and has two children and the other in Wheaton Il and has four children.

After nearly 31 years with General Electric Co. in various finance, sales, customer service, and distribution positions and picking up an MBA, joined IKON Office Solutions as a VP Finance and Administration and retired from IKON during 2001 leading the company’s Logistic organization. After 11 corporate moves between GE and IKON, moved from Philadelphia to Carlsbad, California five years ago.

Like most grandparents, we enjoy spending time with our grandchildren and they are now of the age where they can fly to the San Diego area without their parents which increases our one-on-one time together. We also enjoy traveling and try to include an international volunteer trip each year. Southern California is a great area to enjoy outdoor activities and, when in town, we take advantage of jogging/walking on the beach, tai chi classes and some volunteer activities including “bending nails” one day a week on Habitat for Humanity projects and working on City of Carlsbad hiking trails. Additionally, I try to get in a round of golf and some tennis during the week.

I started grade school at Green Park and then moved to Sharpstein.  From there I went three years to Pioneer Jr. High.  My sophomore year we moved to our farm in Oregon.  I graduated High School in Hermiston in '59.

From there I went to school at Oregon, then into the Army and from there back home to the farm.  I then moved to the Tri-Cities and opened a Union 76 Service Station and after a few years I became an Auto Dealer.  During that time I owned various other business in the area.  After 20 years we moved to the Portland area and I bought a Capital Equipment business.  We sold that business in 2001, tried retirement, it didn't take, so I started another business, NW Dealer Financial Services, Inc. and I now work with auto dealers at a somewhat reduced pace.

Our children and grandchildren are in the Portland area so this is where we will be staying.  I get back to Walla Walla on a regular basis and I still see it as my "home town".
