Spouse: Beverly After leaving the military I returned to Walla Walla and after a short stay at KTEL joined the local fire department where I stayed for several years at station 1, 2 and 3. I later join Sherwood & Roberts in their computer department where my life and career made a major change. After several years learning computer and programming skills I was recruited to Portland and joined what was then a state of the art computer timesharing company. After 1 year the company was purchased and all mid-management levels were replaced. I then joined an international management consulting firm in their newly organized data processing division. For the next ten years I traveled extensively both domestically and international raising to an operations manager level. During these 10 years I moved my family to Atlanta Georgia to locate closer to my clients on the eastern seaboard. After 10 years with the firm, I was fully vested and decided to ply my trade where less travel was required and I could finally get to know my children. Maybe not the best idea as I divorced several years later and relocated myself to Dallas, Texas where I joined another management consulting firm. After 2 years with this firm I broke away forming my own consulting company specializing in management systems and training. I remained single for almost 10 years before meeting and married my current wife of now almost 15 years. In 1998 my wife and I decided to leave big city life and moved to high in the Rocky Mountains and started a small manufacturing company specializing in high-end home decor items such as pillows, etc. Our products were/are made from top quality leathers and furs and fit best in the western and lodge markets. In 2005, just prior to the Berney school 100 year celebrations, I was diagnosed with Colon cancer. It was out of the blue and caught during an annual physical. During the next year this issue was addressed with surgeries. (I did make Berney’s celebration before starting treatments. What a great time my wife and I had during this trip.) As a result of a surgery procedure gone wrong and where as our home is at 10000 ft level, I then required supplemental oxygen 24/7. For a guy that spent most of his life skiing, hiking, etc. this was a real bummer. After I had recovered enough to travel we found that I would not require oxygen at a much lower altitude, so off we went to find a new home. In the hill country of Texas we found the right conditions for me. We settled into our new home 3 years ago and continue our business. Life is good. We spend our time working, traveling to see our grandchildren and we love to cruise. We have taken about 10 cruises. Last year we cruised around Cape Horn in South America. Earlier this year we did a family cruise out of New Orleans with 27 family and friends. What a hoot that was. We have another cruise schedule this November/December for a transatlantic cruise starting in Barcelona Spain. This should be a blast also but I need to bone up on my Spanish. Our Grandchildren are 17, 15, 5 and 2. The oldest is a boy (young man) followed by the girls. Patrick, Amanda, Elise and Lucy (LuLu). I look forward to seeing old friends and reacquainting myself with past school mates. |
