Occupation: Homemaker
Comment: Children:  1 Son & 1 Daughter

Grandchildren:  4 Granddaughters

Activities/Hobbies:  Gardening, vintage post cards

I married Gene Linke (Wa-Hi Class of ’58) on August 28, 1960. I worked for the W W Corps of Engineers while Gene went to Jr. College, Tri Cities and Walla Walla College and worked part time.

In 1962 we moved to Seattle, the year of the Seattle World’s Fair. It was fun and we had lots of company. I worked at Ft. Lawton and then for the Fed. Government while Gene worked at Boeing and attended the U of Washington. We moved to Beaverton, OR in 1968 and Gene worked for FHA Portland as an appraiser and our son Brian was born that year.

We moved to Spokane in 1971 – the year of Spokane’s Expo and again had fun and lots of company. We bought a large house built in 1908 on Manito Blvd and enjoyed many years of restoring the house and grounds. Our daughter, Beth, was born that year. We rented the house for a short time while we moved to Anchorage in 1983 during a slump in real estate-related jobs in Spokane. It was a great experience and we have fond memories of Alaska.

Shortly after our return Gene had emergency quadruple by-pass surgery. It was an anxious and stressful time. In later years we separated and later yet, divorced. Gene and our son lived together, both appraising in the Tri Cities. Gene later became too ill to work so kept house while Brian appraised – by then in Pendleton, OR. He passed away of a heart attack in 1996. A sad time for the whole family. I lived in a small home, still in the Manito Park area, as did our daughter, Beth, until she went to college.

Several weeks ago after living in the same neighborhood for 40 years, my family moved me to Springfield, OR. My son lives in McMinnville, OR and is a county appraiser. His 11 year old twins, Brooke and Bailey, live in Salem with their Mother. My daughter Beth and family live in Eugene just five minutes away from me. She received her Masters in Micro-Biology and is currently a stay-at-home Mom. My son-in-law is an emergency doctor at Sacred Heart Hospital in Springfield. They have two little girls – Abby 5 and Brinna 2. My foster son Sam lives and works in Portland.

Francine "Punkie" Locati

—  Nov. 13, 2016

Francine “Punkie” Locati of Walla Walla, died Sunday, Nov. 13, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center.  Born in 1941 in Walla Walla, Francine loved kids and followed that passion by working as a cook for the Walla Walla School District, at one time serving as their representative to the state legislature. She was involved in the Jaycee Janes being named, along with her husband Don, as Jaycee couple of the year in 1962. She was also very active in the United Way, serving as director of the residential division in 1976.

Francine loved good food, socializing; enjoyed going to movies and playing cards with friends, and had a wonderful smile and laugh that could light up a room. She loved filling her weekends with family and camping, belonging to the Good Sam Club camping group for many years. Francine had a huge heart, taking in relatives during tough times, and serving as “mom” for several neighborhood kids and relatives.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Don; her brother, Richard Parker and wife Danielle of Astoria; sister, Rita Hower of Milton Freewater; her three sons, Ken and wife Patricia of San Diego, Michael and wife Richele of Walla Walla, Devin and wife Gibran of Walla Walla; grandchildren, Leasha, Spencer, Kyndal, Mariah and Ethan (and Snuggles); along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Van Parker.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your continued support of her husband, Don Locati and/or donations can be made to Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. A celebration of life memorial will take place on Dec. 3, at the Golden West Estates Clubhouse from 1-3 p.m. We encourage everyone to bring memories (and pictures). Graveside service to be held Friday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery.

Comment:

After graduation, I worked for Baker Boyer Bank and then went to CWSC, Ellensburg.  I worked at the Oregonian in Portland for over a year.  I taught second grade at Edison in remedial reading, and went on to teach third grade at St. Pat's.  My favorite work was as a medical transcriptionist for St. Mary, the Clinic and in Pendleton OR.  I tooled Dave Manuel's sculptures one summer.

I married Ray Locati, engineer for the City in 1965.  We adopted our first daughter, Wendy Rae. who married Sloan Kimball.  He started Bank Reale in Kennewick.  They have three sons.  Our second daughter, Terra Jean has one son.  She married Don Lally who works at our Post Office.

My pivotal experience was that of becoming spirit-filled at age 33 which led a most unusual painting, "It's Beginning to Rain."  which may be seen on the site of AIDFMA.ning.com.  It was generated from a vision which Iola Bramhall of Dayton WA had over 25 years ago.   Article written:  Quazen.com/Arts/Visual-Arts/Prophecy-in-Paint.458327  I would be happy to send it as an e-mail to you upon request.

In one of my prayers, I was telling the Lord that three of the people he had me praying for special intentions were my classmates.  A thought-voice answered, "I love your class as a whole."  Profound, that.

My art gallery, The Red Door, hosted our Jean Christofer, Jean Houghton Christofori who resides in France for much of the year.  Her pieces now are large and bold, with great color and composition.  Her portfolio revealed earlier more detailed works - I recall a great one of a lama.  The gallery was closed when the rents were more than doubled one winter.  I plan to re-open in the future.

We own the Thai City restaurant which was the old Polar Bear on 9th Street.

Paul E. Logsdon, 71, died October 23, 2012 at Eagle Springs Memory Care in College Place, Washington.

After graduating from WaHi in 1959 I joined the Navy.  After my discharge I enrolled at the Walla Walla College in College Place, WA. where my family lived.  After receiving my Engineering degree and graduating I went to work for IBM mostly in the Northwest until retirement.  In 1964 I married my wife Joann.  We have one son Mark who lives in Arizona and works as a long haul truck driver.  My wife and I traveled abroad also for IBM.  I retired and so did my wife.  We lived in Albuquerque, NM.  We traveled a lot with our camper fishing, hunting, boating, reading and lots of sight seeing.  After my wife passed away I hooked up my trailer and headed to Washington and ended up purchasing a home in Waitsburg, Washington where I now live.  I belong to the commerical club in Waitsburg, the Walla Walla Elks Club and enjoy seeing friends there and meeting new ones.  I have reaquainted with a classmate Lorna (Fletcher) Johnson and we have been seeing each other for about 6 years now.  She lives in Walla Walla and I in Waitsburg, Wa.  We like traveling and have been to Scotland, Alaska on a cruise and Las Vegas.  I still enjoy fishing and spending time with old classmates and other close friends I have met since my return to Walla Walla.

After high school and college, I moved to California working in San Francisco for an insurance company and later in San Ramon, Azusa, and El Monte for Aerospace companies.

Have two wonderful children, a boy and a girl.  In 1980, I moved to Lacey, Wa. and married Gary Longmire (class of 58) and now share Gary's two children.  Between us we have six grandchildren.  We both worked for the State of Washington in information processing.  I retired in 1997.

in 1996 we moved to Grapeview, Wa. and love it here.  We live on the small island Treasure Island with a one-lane bridge.  It is a very rural community and we have met so many wonderful people.  The life here is easy and enjoy being involved with community projects.

We spend several months during the winter in our motorhome.  Seeing different areas of the United States has been great and our favorite trip was to Alaska.
