Grandchildren: 4 Grandsons and 1 Granddaughter.

Activities/Hobbies: Golf, Fly Fishing, Grandchildren, Red Wine, and & throwing Pottery.

I graduated from EWU in the spring of 1964. While attending Eastern I met my wife, Bonnie. We were married that June and moved to Walla Walla where we both began our teaching careers. She taught the little ones (K through 2nd) ) and I taught middle school for 13 years and then spent the last 15 as a middle school principal at John Sager School in College Place.

I retired in 1992. Since that time I have been operating a commercial/residential paint contracting business.

Bonnie and I recently celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary. We have three children, one girl and two boys, who have all graduated from college and are all gainfully employed, which will enable them to support us in our old age.

We have five wonderful grandchildren, four boys and one girl, ranging in ages 3 1/2 to 9! They are all such fun to be around! We just never knew being grandparents could ever be this much fun!

In the past years I have coached Little League, Pony and Colt League baseball, as well as AAU basketball.

My hobbies include golf, fly fishing, red wine, grandchildren, throwing pottery and more golf!  For the past number of years we have been traveling South during the winter to golf in the warm sunshine and avoid the Walla Walla winter cold!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in August.

I moved to Walla Walla May 6, 1947 from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and started school in Sharpstein.  We lived at 617 S. Park Street.  We moved three months before school was out when I was in the sixth grade to Prescott.  I skipped the seventh grade and moved to Pasco the third month of my 9th grade.  We moved again to Burbank at the end of my ninth year and stayed there.  I graduated from Burbank in 1958.  I married Leonard Klug on December 28, 1958 and we just celebrated our 50th anniversary.  We have three children and one foster girl,  Seven Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.  Most of my life has been spent being a caregiver.  At the present I take care of my Mother who is 99 and my husband, and grandchildren when I can.  We've had a wonderful life and I think about my time at Sharpstein with fond memories.

Comment: After Wa-Hi, I enrolled at WSU where I managed to flunk out three straight semesters.  Joined the army and during the three years there learned I should have studied harder at Wazzu.  Went back to WSU and was graduated in 1967 with a degree in Business and Economics.  Moved to Seattle for a series of ho-hum jobs until becoming Director of Material for a large commercial bakery forecasting, negotiating and contracting for everything required to run a large commercial bakery.  In January of 1978 after a few years of this, I noticed the sky was gray, my office walls were gray, the carpet was gray and my outlook, well....  Spotted the Wall Street Journal on a shelf and noticed an ad under the "Help Wanted" section saying, "Visit Exotic Saudia Arabia" and in April of that year I was landing at an airport half way around the world that brought a whole new meaning to the term "Foreign Country".  Lived and worked in the Persian Gulf area off and on for eighteen years in Construction Management building offshore oilwell platforms and the connecting pipelines.  Travelled a lot during this period enjoying the proximity to access new lands and cultures and, at times, opening very wide the eyes of this Walla Walla lad.  Retired to Seattle in 1996 and, unfortunately, took up Golf, the bane of my existence.

The Road Not Taken - Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Hello Class of 1959! How could this be our 50th! I am looking forward to seeing you this summer and having a chance to catch up once again.

In the fall of ’59 I attended the U. of Oregon. After my freshman year I transferred to the U. of Washington where I graduated with a teaching degree. Steve and I were married in 1963. We lived in San Francisco for 6 months during his training for Dean Witter & Co., then moved back to the Seattle area. We have two sons; one in CA. and one who lives close by.

Our lives and our marriage have been filled with abundant blessings, and some hard times as well. We have grown in ways we never would have guessed and are thankful for those times as well as the joyful ones.

We both have enjoyed travel over the years, but most especially our travels in these United States. Many of you know that we have spent months at a time in the S.E. and Charleston, SC. The history, the architecture, the gardens, and the beaches provide abundant photo opportunities and chances for a totally different experience. We also enjoy the biographies of those who experienced the Revolution and the Civil War in the South. We have been docents for home tours in Charleston for 10 years now.

Steve has now retired and we are enjoying this wonderful time of our lives. We are both in fellowship groups and active in our First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue.

We always look forward to being in Walla Walla again. Our town has so much to offer and it’s always great to return.

Hope to see you in August.

Rare Ailment is Fatal for Gregory Koehler at Age 24

Gregory K. Koehler died in a local hospital Sunday at age 24 after several months' illness.

The young father, who was born and educated here, succumbed to aplasia, a form of anemia in the bone marrow.  There have been numerous blood donations for him during his illness, many by persons unknown to the family, for which the grieving parents expressed their thanks Monday.

Greg was born here July 2, 1940, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Koehler.  Other survivors include his wife, Beth Ann, and a daughter, Kim, at home; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Sheri) Fouts of College Place; two brothers, Gary, of Los Angeles, and Jeff, of Walla Walla; and a niece and two nephews.

A member of Christ Lutheran Church, Koehler was a graduate of Walla Walla High School.  He served three years in the U.S. Army, two of the years in Germany.  Since his discharge he had been employed by Tum-A-Lum Lumber Co.

Service was held in the Marshall (Herring) chapel with the Rev. Edward Wagner of Christ Lutheran Church officiating.  Vault interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Grandchildren:  3 Grandsons & 6 Granddaughters
Activities/Hobbies:  Hospice Volunteer, Santas, Refinishing furniture, Wood Carving

Fifty years! Wow – Has it really been that long? After leaving Wa-Hi I worked a year at Gardners Clothing and at Falkenbergs.

In 1960 I met John Kopta from Milton Freewater and that was exciting! We were married in 1961 and bought a farm in Umapine, Or. While living on the farm we had three children; Kristi, John and Craig.

In 1966 John took a teaching/coaching position at Hermiston High School and we moved to Hermiston, OR. In 1971 we had our fourth child, a son, Kevin.

I started a day care in my home in 1969 and it is still going strong. Retirement is a few years away for me. I still enjoy having my children coming every day.

I was a Hospice Volunteer for 20 years and enjoyed it very much. I used to refinish antiques and do wood carving. Currently I stick to making Santas and I love yard sales.

John and I enjoy traveling, spending time with our 9 grandkids, and having lots of fun times at our cabin on Mill Creek.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our 50th reunion.
