I attended WSU in Pullman, WA after graduation. In 1962 I married and lived in Salem, OR, and was employed at a New York Stock Exchange brokerage as office manager. I really enjoyed this work and learned so much that has been beneficial throughout my life. In 1968 our daughter, Teresa, was born. I divorced that same year. In 1969, I married Emil Harold Schipporeit, a graduate of Wyoming School of Engineering, Laramie, WYO, an Engineer with Northwest Natural. We moved to Eugene, OR, started our rental housing business, and I was employed as Chief Clerk, U. S. District Courts, Bankruptcy Div. In 1979, Harold was transferred to Salem and I became a stay-at-home Mom. I can remember Teresa commenting one afternoon how nice it was to have Mom there when she came home from school. At the same time, I began management of our business, Sunnyview Enterprises: Christmas Tree farming and wholesale and retail tree sales, rental housing, and (recently) a housing development. Our office is located as part of our home enabling me to have the best of both home and business life. We live on a Christmas Tree Farm overlooking the Willamette Valley. We have recently started a five-acre vegetable garden (UPick) as a fun project sharing our love of gardening with local customers and it has quickly become a popular place and a fun and interesting summer activity for us. We spend several weeks a year on the east coast, visiting New York City, attending Broadway plays and visiting historic sites. We visit Bentonville, AR several times a year where Teresa and husband Jeff are employed at the Corp. Offices of Walmart and Sam's Club as buyers. No grandchildren. Great W2 memories include Klicker's Strawberries (I am a Klicker Picker) and working at the canneries earning money for school clothes and college. I grew up with my four brothers on Roosevelt Street together with our wonderful and inspiring Mom and Dad. I am among a group who attended W2 schools from Grade 1 through Grade 12, attending Green Park, PiHi and then, WaHi. Teachers who made an impact on my life include Mrs. Cornelius (3rd Grade), Mrs,. McDonough, (4th Grade), Mr. Blake (Principal of Green Park), Mr. East, (music) who wheeled the piano in and out of each class for music lessons, and Miss Hamm (high school English Literature/World History). I made treasured friendships during my years in W2. Probably my biggest personal accomplishment is learning to play the piano later in life. I have enjoyed being part of the Oregon State Fair here in Salem, winning several awards in sewing, cooking and creative writing. |

Spouse: Gladys
Children: 3 Sons & 1 daughter Grandchildren: Eight After graduation from WaHi in 1959, I enjoyed my three years traveling with the U.S. Navy as a Sonarman. This was followed by two years at the University of Idaho majoring in farm management. July 11, 1964 I married Gladys Crane at Lewiston, ID. We lived in Culdesac, ID on a small farm and I began my work with Washington Water Power which is now Avista. There I worked a variety of positions and farmed on the side. These skills proved helpful after I retired in 2000 from the Avista steam generation plant, Kettle Falls, WA. My wife and I participated throughout the years in short term Christian mission trips taking us to Papua New Guinea, Haiti, Venezuela, and Vanuatu. We moved to Vanuatu (formally New Hebrides in the South Pacific) for 4 ½ years where we served as full time missionaries. My capacity was primarily in support roles and Gladys used nursing to share Jesus with the people. Dec. 2007 we returned to Colville, WA where we now reside. Our future plans include additional short term mission trips, and enjoying our family and friends. We have three sons and one daughter who are married and eight beautiful grandchildren (thus far). |
