Spouse:  Leon
Children:  One Son and three Daughters
Grandchildren:  2 Grandsons and 3 Granddaughters
Activities/Hobbies:  Family, Reading, Cooking, Gardening, Traveling in RV

Leon and I met in the old Walla Walla Public Library where I was working. He was attending Summer School at WWC. We married December 20, 1959. Our daughter, Becky, was born in 1961 in Redlands, California. Leon was helping his father in construction in the summer.

We moved to Salem in the Fall for Law School at Willamette. We liked it so well we have lived here since. Leo was born in 1962, Kim in 1964, and Cari in 1972. We needed more space and built our dream house on nine acres East of Salem. We landscaped and planted fruit trees. At different times we raised cattle and sheep. Now we have two Llamas and several chickens. This has been a wonderful place to raise our family.

Leon retired as an Administrative Law Judge in 1993. We enjoy traveling in our RV. This is especially convenient for me as I have Diabetes and controlling my food schedule and intake helps me maintain good control. We visit our children and grandchildren (5) often. Our life together has been richly blessed!

November 15, 1940 jplucarelli@charter.net Retired Operations Mgr. Cold Storage Married 3 2013-10-10 18:39:55

Spouse:  John
Children:  2 Sons & 1 Daughter
Grandchildren:  3 Grandsons & 5 Granddaughters
Activities/Hobbies:
Kids and grandkids and attending their activities, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, traveling, gardening lots of roses, spending time with family and good friends.
My husband, John (class of ’57) and I got engaged upon graduating and married in January 1960. At that time I was working for Walla Walla Federal Savings and Loan. The following July I left employment there and went to work for the US Army Corps. of Engineers as a secretary.

Our first son, Tony, was born in 1961 and our second son, Mike, followed in 1963. I was a stay-at-home Mom for many years, working only part time for the payroll division of General Foods. Our daughter, Susie, was born in 1968. I continued working part time for General Foods when they needed extra office help. In 1971 I was hired by Terminal Ice & Cold Storage, a refrigerated/frozen warehouse facility, working part time in the office. Years later I began full time, retiring from there as Operations Manager in 2004 after 32 years of service. The company had become known as Americold Logistics. Johnny is retired from over 30 years of service with Coca Cola and a lifetime of farming.

Walla Walla has always been our home. Tony and Kelly and their two daughters, ages 23 and 18, live in Portland, Oregon. Mike and Renee and their three children, ages 15, 13, and 11, live in Sammamish, Washington. Susie and John and their three children, ages 16, 14, and 9, built a home next door to us in 1994, giving us the chance to spend very valuable time almost daily with them. We love attending all of their sports activities and also follow closely the Wa-Hi Blue Devils basketball team for which our son-in-law, John, is head coach. We had the pleasure of following them to Seattle/Tacoma this past March for the State Tournament.

Retirement is as wonderful as everyone ever told us it would be. Many days pass and I wonder how I ever had time to work at a professional job. We have a large yard, around 100 roses, and acreage that requires Johnny’s care, where, in the past we grew carrots, spinach and onions. Spending time with our three children and all of our grandchildren is one of our favorite pastimes, along with numerous hobbies. I do a lot of sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and yard work. We love heading to both Portland and Sammamish to spend time with our out-of-town kids and grandkids. We also enjoy other travels and have taken some very wonderful trips, including a three week vacation to Italy with three other couples in 2001. Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast is also one of our favorite places to vacation. Spending time with good friends and family has always been and continues to be very important to us.

It doesn’t seem possible it has been 50 years since we left Wa-Hi and all the fun memories of friends, clubs, sponsors, shuffle shop, Spudnut, and the list goes on.   Let’s get together and reminisce.   See you in August!

Spouse:  John
Children:  2 Sons
Grandchildren:  3 Grandsons & 2 Granddaughters
Activities/Hobbies:  Swimming, tennis tournaments, grandkids, reading, volunteering in the future.

My husband, John and I, are now a retired couple. After working in school age child care programs for over 28 years, and my husband in the insurance industry for 45 years, we now have more free time to travel, volunteer, and “entertain” our dog, Deken. Our two boys, John Jr. and Bill and their awesome wives and five grandkids are close by for us to spoil them all.

Our 45th wedding anniversary is coming up so we are making plans for a trip to “somewhere” in between taking trips to several tennis tournaments that my husband John plays in.

Our lives have been blessed with good health, three parents who are still around keeping us on our toes, and many friends and family to help us from getting bored with life.
