Deceased

Polly was born January 15, 1941 and passed away March 21, 1995 in Marion County, OR

Polly attended WSU until her marriage to Bob Miller in Aug. 1963. The couple resided in Berlin, Germany for several years while Bob was serving in the US Army. This was the time of the building of the Berlin Wall; it was an immensely depressing environment, with many bombed out buildings left from WWII. While there, Elaine and Steve Knapp visited Polly in '65, meeting in Venice - they had a wonderful time traveling together into Greece and Turkey.

Polly was also married to Allen Struthers - they lived near Portland, Oregon, where Allen was involved in the timber industry. During this time, Polly and Allen had great fun restoring antique furniture found in remote lumber towns, designing a beautiful country house, and training horses. Polly was a gifted horsewoman with her horses winning in halter classes as well as in Standard Bred classes at the San Francisco Cow Palace.
Polly was friendly, enthusiastic and talented in whatever endeavor she put her mind to, whether it was to organize an office, decorate a home, planting gardens, or sharing her love of animals.
She died tragically in March of 1995.

Hello Class of 1959! How could this be our 50th! I am looking forward to seeing you this summer and having a chance to catch up once again.

In the fall of ’59 I attended the U. of Oregon. After my freshman year I transferred to the U. of Washington where I graduated with a teaching degree. Steve and I were married in 1963. We lived in San Francisco for 6 months during his training for Dean Witter & Co., then moved back to the Seattle area. We have two sons; one in CA. and one who lives close by.

Our lives and our marriage have been filled with abundant blessings, and some hard times as well. We have grown in ways we never would have guessed and are thankful for those times as well as the joyful ones.

We both have enjoyed travel over the years, but most especially our travels in these United States. Many of you know that we have spent months at a time in the S.E. and Charleston, SC. The history, the architecture, the gardens, and the beaches provide abundant photo opportunities and chances for a totally different experience. We also enjoy the biographies of those who experienced the Revolution and the Civil War in the South. We have been docents for home tours in Charleston for 10 years now.

Steve has now retired and we are enjoying this wonderful time of our lives. We are both in fellowship groups and active in our First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue.

We always look forward to being in Walla Walla again. Our town has so much to offer and it’s always great to return.

Hope to see you in August.
